　　Q: An opponents caddie lifted the players ball and informed the player that the ball was out of bounds. The player claimed that his ball might have been in bounds. What is the ruling?

　　A: If the Committee establishes that the ball was in bounds, the opponent incurs a penalty stroke under Rule 18-3b and the player must replace his ball. If the ball was out of bounds, the opponent incurs no penalty. If the position of the ball cannot be established, the benefit of the doubt should be given to the player.
